CAREER-

Kirry started her Sports Therapy career qualifying in Sports Massage in 2005 as part of her degree, which she gained a BSc(hons) Sports Therapy from UCLAN in 2008.  During this period she covered a multitude of sporting fixtures as a pitch-side first aider and worked in various sporting academies throughout Lancashire and Cumbria.

As part of this, she then went on post-degree to work in football and rugby academies in the North West.

In 2009, Kirry returned to the Isle of Man where she proceeded to work with the sporting population and community for 10 years.

Supporting many local sports teams with fixtures and international travel, Kirry quickly became a trusted provider of team-care and event/match-day therapy provision.

To enhance this, Kirry completed a MSc Sport & Exercise Medicine (with distinction) in 2017 and became the first fully qualified Sports Medicine practitioner on the Isle of Man (non-GP specialism practitioner).

Furthermore, Kirry travelled throughout the UK, Europe and worldwide with teams and covered Island and Commonwealth Games as well as British competitions, namely in Rugby Union, Football, Gymnastics, Hockey, Netball, Cycling, Shooting, Cricket and MMA.

Having an interest in acute and traumatic medicine, Kirry then moved to the West Midlands and qualified as a Paramedic, working on the frontline in the heart of Birmingham for 7+ years and is now practicing in private medical facilities combined with the MEDX studio clinic covering all aspects of Musculoskeletal and Sports Medicine as well as Medical-Led Aesthetics & Wellness treatments.

  • FACTS ABOUT KIRRY-

  • FAVOURITE SPORTS TEAM: Wales RFU (for my sins!)
FAVOURITE SPORTS EVENT COVERED: Being a Medical Lead for Bham CG was great as I led both emergency and therapy medical teams, meeting so many professionals with amazing knowledge.

  • FAVOURITE TEAM TRIP: There’s been SO many, but CONIFA Football trips, especially Östersund.

  • FAVOURITE TREATMENT: I LOVE PRP injections and their versatility, not only for joints and tendons but for hair & scar restoration too!

  • FAVOURITE CHANGING ROOM TRACK: A bit of Macklemore gets everyone going, then Myles Smith for post-match.

  • FAVOURITE MATCHDAY KIT ITEM: Too many to choose from but I love the versatility of EAB. Sprained joint, sore muscle, hold your head together….tape your boot to your foot..the list is endless!

  • MOST COMMON KIT COLOUR WORN: I've worn many kits throughout my sporting career but maroon & red have been very common!

  • FIRST INJURY TREATED: Rugby Union spear-tackle into the ground.  The player fractured their neck and I had to manage the injury having qualified a week prior!  The player made a full recovery and had rehabilitation at the uni which was great to be a part of.  I've always been a magnet for bad injuries which followed me through to the Ambulance Service!

  • EMBARRASING SPORTING MOMENT: Anything that's been televised!
